The licensed professional engineer discipline system has been regulated in the Professional Engineers Act. From 2007 to 2015, the PCC’s Professional Engineer Discipline Committee has handled 8 to 34 cases per year. Among these cases, 12 to 26 cases have been resolved. The number of resolved cases has been reducing since 2011, which is caused by the calling more than twice meeting for some cases, as shown in Figure-1.

Disciplinary sanction on a licensed professional engineer shall be imposed by the Professional Engineer Discipline Committee through the following, as actual situations may justify: punishment (warning, reprimand, suspension from professional practice ranging from two months minimum to two years maximum, abolishment of the professional engineer license, or abolishment of the professional engineer certificate), no punishment, rejection decision, and dismiss the appeal. The resolved cases which were counted by Dec, 31 2015 are shown in figure 2-13, most of them were punishment cases. In addition, the cases “rejection decision or others” increased in 2013, because cases were withdrawn or the involved professional engineer was deceased (3 cases), as shown in Figure-2.
