Winners of the 23rd Public Construction Golden Quality Awards announced

The Public Construction Commission (PCC), Executive Yuan announced the winners of the 23rd Public Construction Golden Quality Awards under the expectation of all sectors of society. Besides the record-high submissions this year, the award-winning projects perform exceptionally well in automation technology, energy saving and carbon reduction, environmental protection and sustainable development, etc. It is expected that the excellent public constructions will provide a better living environment and quality of life for our citizens.

According to the PCC, there are 108 entries for the “Public Construction Quality Awards”, of which 68 cases win awards, including 11 Supreme Awards, 28 Excellent Awards and 29 Honorable Mention Awards. There are 26 entries for the "Public Facility Maintenance and Management Awards", of which 18 facilities receive awards, including 2 Supreme Awards, 7 Excellent Awards and 9 Honorable Mention Awards. There are 19 candidates for the "Individual Contribution Awards", of which there are 12 winners, including 2 Supreme Awards, 5 Excellent Awards and 5 Honorable Mention Awards. There are 10 and 3 units respectively winning the "Special Contribution Awards", which is presented to units that have won awards for 5 or 10 consecutive years .

This year, among the projects winning the Supreme Awards of the “Public Construction Quality Awards” (please refer to the attachment for the characteristics of each project), the 4 projects winning the Supreme Awards in the Civil Engineering category are as follows: (1) the "Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin Line ( Phase 1) Contract NO.CQ860" conducted by the First District Project Office, Department of Rapid Transit Systems, Taipei City Government; (2) the "Zhongxiao East Road Section 4 Pedestrian Underpass Connection Project" conducted by the New Construction Office, Public Works Department, Taipei City Government; (3) the "Gukeng Township Huainan Ecological Park Green Corridor Construction Project" conducted by the Nantou Branch, Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation, MOA; and (4) the "Houbi District Dengchang Community Long-Short Tree Park and Songjiang’s Cultural Imagery Environmental Improvement Project" conducted by the Tainan Branch, Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation, MOA.

The 2 projects winning the Supreme Awards in the Hydraulic Engineering category are as follows: (1) the "A3 Section of Zengwen-Nanhua Interconnecting Pipeline Turnkey Project" conducted by the Southern Region Water Resources Branch, Water Resources Agency, MOEA; and (2) the "Guanshan Dongming Drainage Trunk 2 Feeder Irrigation System Improvement Project" conducted by the Taitung Management Office, Irrigation Agency, MOA.

There is 1 project winning the Supreme Awards in the Facilities Engineering category:the "Hsinta Power Plant Combined-Cycle Renewal Project-Natural Gas Transmission System" conducted by the Southern Construction office, Department of Nuclear and Fossil Power Projects, Taiwan Power Company.

The 4 projects winning the Supreme Awards in the Building Engineering category are as follows: (1) the "New Construction for Social Welfare Facilities in Wanlong East Military Camp" conducted by the New Construction Office, Public Works Department, Taipei City Government; (2) the "New Construction of Yuanlin Health Center and Changzhao Social Welfare Building" conducted by the Changhua County Government; (3) the "Reconstruction of Zhushan Station" conducted by the Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office, Forestry and Nature Conservation, MOA; and (4) the “Restoration of the Alishan Guesthouse, a County-Designated Monument” conducted by the Chiayi Office, Forestry and Nature Conservation, MOA.

The Supreme Awards of the "Public Facility Maintenance and Management Awards" are also given to 2 facilities, namely, (1) the "Taoyuan International Airport" managed by the Taoyuan International Airport Corporation Ltd.; and (2) the "Suao-Dongao Section of the Provincial Highway NO.9-Dongao Tunnel" managed by the Eastern Region Branch Office, Highway Bureau, MOTC.

"The 23rd Public Construction Golden Quality Awards” ceremony will be held in the afternoon of December 26, 2023 at the Kuo-Kuang Hall of the CPC Building in Taipei City, Taiwan. The ceremony is aimed to publicly recognize the outstanding engineering teams and individuals, and to acknowledge the hard work of the frontline engineers.
