The licensed professional engineer discipline system has been regulated in the Professional Engineers Act. From 2010 to 2019, the PCC’s Professional Engineer Discipline Committee handled average 22 cases in each year. The highest cases reach to 34 in 2013. The number of resolved cases has been increased since 2011 as shown in Figure-1.

Disciplinary sanction on a licensed professional engineer which is deliberated by the Professional Engineer Discipline Committee can be divided into the following categories:

  1. Punishment (Include warning, reprimand, suspension from professional practice ranging from two months minimum to two years maximum, abolishment of the professional engineer license, or abolishment of the professional engineer certificate).
  2. No punishment.
  3. Rrejection decision.
  4. Dismiss the appeal.

The nearly decade resolved cases are shown in Figure-2, most of them were punishment cases. In addition, the cases “rejection decision or others” increased in 2013. Due to the cases were withdrawn or the involved professional engineer was deceased (3 cases), as shown in Figure-2.
