FOREWORD

This is the 12th edition of the Defence Forward Procurement Plans for Minor Capital
Equipment.
The publication of this booklet serves as a valuable resource for industries within
Australia and New Zealand that have sought opportunities to participate in minor defence projects.

This edition of the Defence Forward Procurement Plans for Minor Capital Equipment lists
future projects to be undertaken in Australia up to the value of $A20 million, and in New
Zealand up to the value of $NZ7 million, covering the period 2001 to 2006.

The information contained within this booklet is indicative only as changes in projects and/or
project proposals do occur. Projects will only proceed pending satisfactory further development
and are subject to the normal budgetary processes of programming, funding and approval.

Further enquiries regarding information on the projects listed in this edition should be directed to
the project office indicated next to each project. Section C of this publication provides further
details for both Australian and New Zealand contacts.

Additional information on Australian Defence and industry matters can be accessed from the
Defence Materiel Organisation home page, which is located at the following Internet address: http://www.defence.gov.au/dmo

All New Zealand Defence Force tenders are advertised through the New Zealand Industrial
Supplies Office, using their GETS web site http://nziso.govt.nz

priority afforded each project by the Australian Defence Force is under constant review, and may
be changed to match Defence priorities and Australian Government initiatives. The project

only. The current status of a project can be obtained via the nominated 'point of contact' for each
project. Full details of the abbreviations used for contacts can be found in Section C.

Certain procurement activities detailed in this document may involve access to sensitive
Australian Government information. Industry participants may therefore need to be sponsored
into the 'Australian Defence Industrial Security Program'. Individual project contacts can
provide further advice on this aspect.

Any expense or investment decision made by recipients in relation to the information contained
in this document, or information provided by the Australian Department of Defence that does not
constitute a formal tender document is a matter for commercial judgement. No claims for such
expenditure will be considered by the Commonwealth of Australia.

The code for 'estimated project cost' is as follows:

A = <$500k
B = $500k to $2.5m
C=$2.5m to $10m
D=$10m to $20m

This code can be found at the bottom of each Project Detail page.
